Here's a shot of some spinner dolphins right outside of Honokohau Harbor. Several days a week we might see a resident pod that hangs out in front of the harbor and a few other spots. When they are in, you have a fair chance of seeing them on nearby divesites... way cool!!!

Reminds me of our whale-watching trip with Dan McSweeney....spinner dolphins were all we saw that day but it was exciting. (In fairness our tour was in the first part of December, if there's a next time maybe I'll get to see a whale).
How interactive are dolphins when you encounter them on dives?
They're generally not interractive while on dives, usually they're just passing through or resting and you'll see them pass a few times over the course of minutes. I have friends who has one dive down at the Place of Refuge a couple years back where a group of dophins followed them for 60-70 minutes and wouldn't get far enough away to get a good picture... right in thier faces the whole time... but that's the only time I've heard of that.
Cool.
